SUHANDINATA CUP 2010: China win again, Denmark gets top six finish

China successfully defended the World Junior Championships  Suhandinata Cup they won last year when they beat South Korea 3-0 at the CODE Dome in Guadalajara, Mexico on Monday.
Malaysia bagged the bronze medal when they edged Indonesia 3-2 with the women’s doubles pair of Shevon Lai-Yang Li Lian smashing their way to the winning point with a three-game win over Nurbeta Kwanrico-Aulia Putri Darajat.
In other play-off ties, Denmark emerged as the best placed European team when they secured sixth position while England and Germany finished 10th and 12th respectively.

In the final, China’s Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin dropped the first game but quickly recovered to dominate the South Korean pair of Kang Ji Wook-Seung Il Choi in the second and third games. The Chinese eventually won 15-21, 21-17, 21-19.

China, who have only surrendered the title once in seven outings, and incidentally to South Korea in 2006, were not going to allow history repeat itself and seized control of the tie when Huaug Yuxiang beat Lee Hong Je in three games – 17-21, 21-16, 21-14.

Suo Di, the reigning Asian junior champion, gave the Chinese the winning point with a comfortable 21-15, 21-13 win Park Ko Wonn.
