Zakry out to protect perfect record against Japanese doubles cast

MALAYSIA's Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif has not been on the losing side to any of the doubles players in the Japanese team.
And he does not intend to put a blot to the record with his partner, Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari รข€“ not in front of the home fans.
“All the doubles pairs in the Japan's team are of equal stature. They can field them based on rankings and they can try to surprise us with a scratch pair. But it will be the same,” said Zakry. The Japanese pairs based on world rankings are Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Noriyasu Hirata (No. 13), Kenichi Hayakawa-Kenta Kazuno (No. 27) and Hiroyuki Endo-Yoshiteru Hirobe (No. 38).
“We have lost to another pair, Shintaro Ikeda-Shuichi Sakamoto, once (at the Malaysian Open in 2009) but they are not here with the Japan team. We will also be ready for the others if we are fielded tomorrow,” said Zakry yesterday.
Meanwhile, Zakry expressed surprise over the decision that required China to have Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng as their top ranked pair instead of Guo Zhengdong-Xu Chen based on national ranking calculation.
“We have been focusing on Cai Yun-Haifeng's game styles over the last couple of days. We beat them at the China Open and our matches against them have always been close. We had looked forward to playing against them here,” he said.
“Now, we will have to switch our attention to Zhengdong-Xu Chen. There will not be much of a difference. They beat us at the Super Series Masters Finals (in Johor Baru last December). They are power-packed players and we have to be on our toes all the time against them.”
Zakry-Fairuzizuan are the second ranked Malaysian pair behind Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong and ahead of Ong Soon Hock-Hoon Thien How.
