KUALA LUMPUR: The BA of Malaysia (BAM) have postponed an
important council meeting scheduled for today but gave an assurance that
there will not be any delay in naming their new high performance
director.
The BAM secretary, Ng Chin Chai, said yesterday that their council, chaired by Datuk Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, would meet next month after the Hari Raya celebration to endorse many decisions on their new coaching and training structure.
The council was to endorse a recommendation for a former international to take up the post of high performance director.
“Efforts will be made to name the high performance director earlier so that he can work together with all the coaching coordinators with immediate effect. Our president will make the announcement soon,” said Chin Chai, who is also the coaching and training committee chairman.
There have been few candidates but former international Datuk James Selvaraj is likely to be the one to assume the role.
He will work closely with Rashid Sidek (men’s singles elite), Rexy Mainaky (men’s doubles elite), Hendrawan (men’s singles back-up), Tan Kim Her (men’s doubles back-up), Wong Tat Meng (women’s singles elite and back-up) and Pang Cheh Chang (women’s doubles elite and back-up) to chart the future of Malaysian badminton.
