Misbun yet to confirm date of official meeting with BAM

KUALA LUMPUR: Misbun Sidek seems to be taking his time in resuming his job as coach of world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei.
He
has yet to confirm when he would officially meet with the Badminton
Association of Malaysia (BAM) although he had stated that he would meet
up with them after the Chinese New Year.
But at least Misbun did
get the ball rolling when he and his brother Jalani (president of the
Nusa Mahsuri club) met up with high performance director Datuk James
Selvaraj.
“It was just an informal meeting over dinner,” said James yesterday.
“We just spoke briefly about his plans for Chong Wei and it was good that I had a chance to meet up with him.
“But I will not be able to make any conclusion or decision based on that informal meeting.
“I
have asked Misbun to get in touch with us for an official meeting so
that we can have another look at his request and get our focus back on
training the players.”
It was learnt that Misbun has sent out a
text message confirming his intention to meet up (with the BAM) in the
next few days as he still needed some time to re-think several matters.
The meeting with Misbun will also be attended by BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai and general manager Kenny Goh.
Misbun had resigned on Dec 31 citing unhappiness over certain decisions made by the coaching and training committee.
He was then asked to reconsider his decision for the sake of national interest.
Misbun
finally showed some positive signs that he wanted to end this issue and
get back to work after a meeting with BAM president Datuk Seri Nadzmi
Mohd Salleh before the Chinese New Year.
Meanwhile, in Misbun’s absence, Chong Wei is training diligently under Teh Seu Bock and Rashid Sidek.
