Sudirman Cup: Malaysia fails to qualify for semis


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia failed to make it to the semi-finals of the Sudirman Cup world mixed team badminton championships in Qingdao after being defeated 3-2 by South Korea in the last eight on Thursday.
The decisive match was the women's doubles, where Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty lifted Malaysia's hopes by winning the first set 21-19 against South Korea's Ha Jung Eun-Kim Min Jung.
The Korean pair, however, won the second set 21-16 before outplaying Eei Hui-Pei Tty 21-10 in the rubber
South Korea will take on China in the semi-finals. The host wrapped up the tie against India after four matches, winning 3-1.

Malaysia lost to S.Korea 2-3

Mixed doubles: Koo Kien Keat-Chin Eei Hui lost to Ko Sung Hyun-Ha Jung Eun 17-21, 17-21.
Men's singles: Lee Chong Wei bt Park Sung Hwan 21-18, 21-14.
Men's doubles: Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How bt Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae 21-15, 14-21, 21-14.
Women's singles: Tee Jing Yi lost to Bae Youn Joo 11-21, 11-21.
Women's doubles: Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty lost to Ha Jung Eun-Kim Min Jung 21-19, 16-21, 10-21.
China bt India 3-1
Men's doubles: Cai Yun Cai-Fu Haifeng bt Thomas Sanave-Kumar Rupesh 21-15, 21-14.
Women's singles: Wang Xin lost to Saina Nehwal 15-21, 11-21.
Men's singles: Lin Dan bt P. Kashyap 21-14, 21-14.
Women's doubles: Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang Yu bt Jwala Gutta-Ashwini Ponnappa 21-8, 21-13.
