Susi still has the magic touch on Indonesians

THE 1992 Barcelona Olympics gold medallist Susi Susanti (pic) is proving to be a big hit with both the Indonesian fans and media alike.

She may have hung up her racquet a long time ago but is still in demand for interviews and photographs at the Istora Senayan.

The Indonesian BA (PBSI) apparently wooed Susi for two months before she agreed to be the manager of their Uber Cup team.

And Susi’s presence has worked wonders for the team, who qualified for the semi-finals with a 3-0 win over Hong Kong yesterday.

Four minnows return home empty-handed

AMONG the 24 teams in the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, four have returned home without winning a single point.

In the Thomas Cup, Nigeria and New Zealand drew noughts in their three ties and the United States and South Africa got the unwanted results in the Uber Cup

The only consolation for debutants Nigeria was that, unlike the other three teams, they managed to win a game in the playoff for a quarter-final berth against England. Olaulula Faighemi won the first game in his 21-19, 15-21, 16-21 defeat by Ben Beckman.
