Mobile network signs up sponsorship deal with Chong Wei and Misbun

Maxis Communications has signed a sponsorship deal with badminton ace Lee Chong Wei, the silver medallist in the men’s singles in the Beijing Olympics, and his coach Misbun Sidek.

The duo will be actively involved in promoting the brand to its stakeholders, including customers, dealers and employees.

Maxis Communications chief marketing officer Matthew Willsher said Lee and Misbun both epitomised high performance culture in their sport and had shown extreme discipline, endurance, determination and intelligence in their field.

“It has brought them to the pinnacle of success. They inspire Malaysians not just by their achievements but also the manner in which they have achieved them.

“At Maxis, we believe good working culture contributes towards excellence in our product and service delivery,’’ said Willsher after presenting the duo with Maxis SIM cards and BlackBerry units.

In the sports arena, Maxis is the broadcast sponsor of the Barclays Premier League for the 2007 to 2010 season.
