KUALA LUMPUR: It was a day of mixed fortune for two Malaysians at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) in Guangzhou yesterday.
The KL Rackets’ badminton club owner Datuk Seri Andrew Kam failed in his bid to challenge incumbent Dr Kang Young-joong for the president’s post of the world badminton body by 90 to 162 votes.
However, there was joy for Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)’s honorary treasure Datuk Lim Teong Kiat when he was elected as one of the council members.
The new team, under the charge of Young-joong, is expected to attend several meetings over the next five days. The new council are expected to make several decisions on Saturday.
