PETALING JAYA: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Nadzmi Mohd Salleh (pic) has expressed surprise over his appointment as the chef-de-mission for next year’s Commonwealth Games in India.
But he has vowed to do all he can to excel in both the corporate and sports sectors.
Nadzmi, who is also the chairman of Proton Holdings Berhad, said it would be a challenge to fulfil the responsibility of a chef-de-mission.
“I am honoured over this appointment. But this will be something new to me because I have never done this before,” said Nadzmi.
“I will have to catch up with the previous chef-de-missions and learn more about their roles and responsibilities. I will also have to work closely with the other sports association.
“My schedule is hectic and, sometimes, I am busy. But I am determined to juggle my time accordingly.”
Nadzmi has been selected based on his excellent leadership quality in the BAM, dealing the many challenges, struggles and disputes in the association impeccably.
Besides Nadzmi, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) also named Datuk Zolkples Embong as the chef-de-mission for the Guangzhou Asian Games during their board meeting on Tuesday.
