Lee Chong Wei lived up to his top billing while China’s Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng stayed on track for a possible re-match against Korea’s Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung in the men’s doubles as quarter-final day drew to close at the VICTOR Korea Open Super Series in Seoul on Friday.
In the women’s singles Sung Ju Hyun and Bae Seung Hee continued their brilliant run in the tournament when both players qualified for the semi-finals, at the expense of
Chong Wei, the top seed, defeated

Gade, on the other hand, showed that it was dangerous to write him off as he came from behind to beat Park 17-21, 21-16, 22-20 to stay on track to defend his title.
Gade will once again have to make a quick recovery as he will be facing a ‘rested’ Chen Long in the semi-final. Chen Long was given a walk-over by his teammate Bao Chunlai.
Park’s exit, however, did not stop Ju Hyun and Seung Hee from marching into the semi-finals as both players raised their game to beat their more renowned opponents, and more importantly ensure one Korean will be in the women’s singles final as Seung Hee and Ju Hyun will square off against each other.
The second semi-final will be between Wang Shixian, the sole Chinese player left in the singles, against
Local favourites Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung and

Yong Dae-Jae Sung beat compatriots Kim Ki Jung-Shin Baek Cheol 21-14, 22-20 while Cai-Fu denied
Cai-Fu won 21-16, 15-21- 21-18 despite the Danes’ best efforts to vary their game. In the end, it was the Chinese’s greater consistency that proved to be the decisive factor.
