KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champion Taufik Hidayat has served up
an early warning to all his rivals gearing up for the Asian Games in
Guangzhou.
Yesterday, the Indonesian defeated Joachim Persson of Denmark 21-16, 21-11 to lift the French Open crown.
Earlier, he had scored a convincing 21-12, 21-14 win over Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the semi-finals.
Last week, Taufik also reached the final of the Denmark Open but lost to Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark.
In the Asian Games, Taufik is in the same quarter as Malaysia’s Mohd Hafiz Hashim, South Korea’s Park Sung-hwan and Japan’s Kenichi Tago.
Taufik is expected to take on one of them in the last eight.
