Lin Dan can make the Finals with strong finish

KUALA LUMPUR: China’s Lin Dan has a chance to qualify for the Super Series Masters Finals if he chooses to end the season with a strong finish.
The reigning Asian Games champion has been seeded second for the China Open, which starts today in Shanghai, and he is seen as the clear favourite to win the home title.
He has also confirmed his participation in next week’s Hong Kong Open.
The China and Hong Kong Opens are the last two events of the 12-leg Super Series this year.
Only the top eight qualifiers from every event will get to play in the Super Series Masters Finals, which will be held in Taiwan from Jan 5-9.
Lin Dan is currently in 13th spot. This is due to his decision to skip many of the Super Series events this year.
If he wins both the China and Hong Kong Opens, Lin Dan is sure to break into the top eight.
Lin Dan qualified for the last two editions but did not turn up for the Finals because China decided to snub the event by withdrawing all their qualifiers.
This time, though, China are certain to participate because the World Badminton Federation (BWF) are awarding world ranking points for all the qualifiers.
Malaysia, meanwhile, will only be represented in the men’s singles (Lee Chong Wei) and doubles (Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong).
