BAM exco members want clearer picture of Ganga sacking

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) executive committee members are waiting for the return of their president, Datuk Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, to get a clearer picture on the sacking of P. Ganga Rao as their honorary secretary.
Early yesterday morning, four key exco members showed up at the BAM’s office to get details on the matter from general manager Kenny Goh. They were deputy president Tengku Kamil Ismail Tengku Idris Shah, Datuk Lim Teong Kiat, Datuk Mohd Al-Amin Majid and David Wee.
Teong Kiat said that they would wait for Nadzmi to return to explain why he terminated Ganga’s services.
“Of course, we are shocked over the decision but it is the president’s call. We will have a clearer picture when he returns,” he said. “We are here just to exchange notes and check on the players’ preparation for the Thomas Cup Finals.
“Nadzmi will be back next week and we have been made to understand that we will be called for a meeting. We have no choice but to wait and see what’s the next course of action.”
Nadzmi will return from Germany on April 20 and he has planned for a dinner on April 22 with the squads for the Thomas-Uber Cup Finals.
On candidates for the vacant post, Teong Kiat said: “No, we did not talk about it. It is up to the president to appoint a new person.”
