KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia are bracing themselves up for a grudge match against defending champions Singapore in the semi-finals of the Asian netball championship at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here on Friday.
National coach Amnah Noran (pic) said that everything the team had worked for would depend on this important game to pursue their ambition of winning the crown after a lapse of 24 years.
“It was hard luck that we are the runners-up in the group but all the same, we are ready to take on Singapore,” she said yesterday.
A top-place finish in Group B for Malaysia would have meant avoiding fancied Singapore in the cross-over semi-finals. But Sri Lanka beat Malaysia 72-52 to top the group.
In the Group B matches played yesterday, Malaysia defeated Hong Kong 52-26 while India defeated Pakistan 53-24.
Malaysia have six points from three wins and defeat while Sri Lanka with the same number of points will wrap up their group fixtures today against winless Pakistan.
