BWF: Ranking system will be back in order

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) have given an assurance that their ranking system will be back in order after the two Super Series events in China and Japan.

The China Masters is the seventh leg of the series and it begins tomorrow in Changzhou and the Japan Open will be held in Tokyo next week.

The BWF had come under flak from players for the lack of information on the world ranking.

Last week, Malaysian veteran Wong Choong Hann highlighted the difficulties in accessing detail ed information on their world rankings.

There is also no Super Series ranking list posted on their website even though the 12-tournament season has reached the half way mark.

The BWF events manager, M. Venugopal, said that they had begun work on keying in details of the world and Super Series rankings. He said that their website was now being managed by a new company.

“We are having test runs and putting together all the information that is needed. For now, it takes 30 minutes to manually rank a player based on their past results,” he said.

“We hope that all these will be rectified after the Super Series tournaments in China and Japan and the players will be able to access the rankings without any problem.”
