The Championships is divided to two categories, individual and mixed team events, with the mixed team event, also known as the Suhandinata Cup, attracting 22 confirmed entries including defending champions
The Suhandinata Cup will be played from 23-26 October followed by the individual tournament for the Bimantara Cups scheduled from 27 October to 1 November.
Speaking to reporters after the launch of the Championships’ logo in Alor Setar, local organising committee secretary Goh Yen Yen said it was an honour for the State association and the State government to host such a prestigious event.
“We are also grateful for the confidence and belief given to us by BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) and BWF (Badminton World Federation) to host these Championships,” added Yen Yen.
“With the support from the local government and other local authorities, we will do our best to ensure a smooth and successful tournament.”
The logo was launched by Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak at the State secretariat headquarters in Alor Setar on Tuesday.
Also present at the launch were Kedah executive councillor for Youth and Sports Dr Hamdan Mohd Khalib, BWF Council member Datuk Lim Teong Kiat, Kedah BA president Teoh Teng Chor, YONEX-SUNRISE representative Alice Lee, BAM Finance Manager P. Manoharan.

The draw for the team event will be held in Alor Setar on 30 September while the draw for the individual tournament will be held on 27 October.
