THE Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are positive that
an amicable deal will be reached to get Misbun Sidek back as the
national singles coach.
Yesterday, BAM president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said that he would be meeting Misbun today before informing the council members about the outcome in Bukit Jalil tomorrow.
Nadzmi sounded very confident that there would be a positive outcome.
“The decision we make must be able to protect the interests of BAM, the coach and players,” said Nadzmi, who managed to catch Lee Chong Wei in action in the Malaysia Open yesterday after arriving from Monte Carlo.
“It is a matter of accommodating and coming out with good negotiations.
“We hope to resolve this amicably.”
Misbun resigned as a coach on Dec 31 but he has been asked to re-consider his decision after an exco meeting.
“Actually, I spoke to him before I left for the overseas trip. I asked him to help out at the Malaysia Open and he agreed. He was in good spirits,” said Nadzmi.
On shuttler Mohd Hafiz Hashim’s decision to quit, Nadzmi said: “We have to respect his decision.
“He has given an official letter to BAM and we will also bring this matter to the council.
“It is important that we engage the council on all matters and we hope to come out with good decisions on Sunday (tomorrow),” he added.
