KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lee Chong Wei is within reach of his
seventh Proton Malaysian Open title after he easily defeated China's
Chen Long in the semifinal at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil Saturday.
Chong Wei took just about 40 minutes to down Chen 21-9, 21-9.
"I thought Chen Long would go all out to attack but he chose to be cautious. He also made a lot of mistakes," the world number one told reporters.
Chong Wei who played confidently said he had prepared himself to meet Lin Dan in the semifinal.
However, Lin Dan had to pull out from his quarterfinal match against Chen Long due to abdominal injury.
Chong Wei will meet Indonesia's Taufik Hidayat, who beat compatriot Simon Santoso 21-15, 21-19 in the other semifinal, in Sunday's final.
