BAM want an official quit letter

THE Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have asked Mohd Hafiz Hashim to submit an official letter on his intention to quit the national team.
And their council, who meet on Sunday, will decide on whether to give their blessings to Hafiz’s wish to turn professional. But it looks as though the 2003 All-England champion will be give the green light.
The BAM secretary, Ng Chin Chai, said yesterday that Hafiz’s decision to leave the national set-up was made with good intentions.
“Yes, I met him before Christmas and he told me about his desire to leave. I told him to reconsider it,” he said.
“I also told him that I felt that he has two good years more in him and he could still contribute in team events. He carried on with training as usual for this Malaysian Open.
“I spoke to him again (after Hafiz made known of his decision during a press conference) and he told me that his decision to leave was not related to any other issues.
“He told me that nothing was wrong with the BAM. He spoke in a nice manner and I know that he has good his intentions.
“He wants to leave in good terms. He appreciates that the BAM still want him. But he feels that it is better that the money we want to spend on him is used for the juniors.”
Chin Chai, who did not want to jump to any conclusion, said: “The council and exco are the higher authorities and we will bring it up and let them make a decision.”
